Culinary Group

The Culinary group story so far:

The culinary group is the newest of all the Shimna groups having commenced in February this year.  We have approximately 24 members.  So far we have had a "bespoke" Chinese "new year meal" where a well known Hong Kong chef , David Lee, cooked just for us, another "bespoke" 6 course taster meal with chef Paul Cunningham at the Scopers restaurant in Dundrum,  a wine, cheese and dinner event in Dundrum,  a lunch in Tonn Ruray cafe and a 5 course Italian meal with paired wines in Olive Bizarre in Newcastle.  

Coming up:  we have a "cook your own Pizza " event with sides and dessert on November 3rd. This event will be led by Frank McGreevy who is a pizza expert.   (This event is fully booked. )

Our Christmas dinner will be at the Mourne Seafood restaurant on December 17th.  We have just a few spaces for this.  

Plans for the next few months:  We aim to have 1 or 2 events per month.   We are always aware of the cost effectiveness of our events, the ambience of the venue and the joy which we can bring to each other.  With the Pizza event we have launched our  "teach and cook "  events where any of our members can pass on their knowledge of different cuisines and we are also initiating "bring and share" days which will allow us to increase the number of events, cut down on cost and also to share the load of preparing a meal.
