Photography Focus, Learn and Share
We would like to welcome you to the U3A Photography Group.
The main aims U3A Shimna Photography Group are to promote the enjoyment of photography amongst its members and in the Newcastle community and to assist new U3A members with problems appertaining to photography
We also aim to provide opportunities for taking and producing better photographs, to develop skills and knowledge mainly through group workshops and to provide opportunities for social interaction through Photography.
We would like to engage with, and learn from other photographers both within the group and possibly visiting professional photographers and to provide a forum for members to show their photographs and contribute to the group exhibitions and programmes.
The intention of the group is not to teach photography but to have fun and enjoy taking photos. Meetings are a mix of field trips (followed by a meal) and room-based sessions which will allow you to tackle a range of photographic subjects and techniques.
This Group is open to all from those with experience to beginners. Expensive equipment is not essential and a simple mobile phone will suffice.
The group has an exhibition the Newcastle Library for 3 weeks beginning 8th September.
Next Meeting is on Wednesday 14th October at 2.00pm at Newcastle Library
New members always welcome .
Please note that meetings will be on the first Wednesday of each month (except the meeting for October 2026, which will be on Wednesday 14th October).
The next Field trip will be to visit Archaeological sites around the Mournes. This will be followed by lunch at a local hostelry. Date to be confirmed.
You must be a current Shimna u3a member in order to take part in any trips. This is essential to ensure that your participation in our activities is covered by u3a’s insurance.
